Blue & White Ball - All that Jazz a success!

Wednesday, May 30, 2012‘All That Jazz – 1920’s New York Glamour’ ball hosted by St Laurence was held on 6 July 2012 at The Pier Geelong.

Cameron Ling and Paula Kontelj put  in their time to make the St Laurence annual fundraising ball the biggest we’ve seen to date.

Ling took time out of his busy schedule to attend this event and hold Q&A time with the 400 odd guests, as well as picking out the best dressed for the evening.

Kontelj was the MC for the evening and encouraged the attendees to dig deep and most importantly, have a good time!

It was all a bit of fun and at the end of the day, the valuable work that St Laurence does can mean the difference between living independently or living in the cycle of poverty.

The night also included live and silent auctions of the best memorabilia Australia has to offer. As well as the musical talents of local band Hot Club Swing, a photobooth, a sneak preview of local show “Singin’ in the rain”, and lots of surprise acts and entertainment on the night!

Social Inclusion - Inclusive growth what does it mean?When Kevin Rudd became Prime Minister he established the Social Inclusion Advisory Board in 2009. This was in line with European and British social policy thinking, which since the 1970s, have been using this terminology and putting it into practice. Social Inclusion in practice is often done through employment. For some obtaining employment is more difficult than for others. It is important in an inclusive community that everyone has the right to housing, food, a safe environment and employment opportunities. Further to this is the notion of inclusive growth.
