MyPATH Has Launched

Monday, April 23, 2012After two years of planning and development at St Laurence, Mr David Koch, MP, Member for Western Victorian Region, officially launched MyPATH; the new program for people with a disability, on April 26.

MyPATH is a fully customised learning and vocational pathway that offers choice for growth and independence for those with a disability.

This curriculum based framework offers a person centred thinking approach at all times, encouraging people with a disability to have greater choice and control over their support services. This is an exciting time in this industry and we’re looking forward to seeing huge successes in the coming months.

The event also incorporated a celebratory performance by one of our clients and the launch of the new, interactive website www.mypath.org.au

"Encouragingly, more than 280 people across Geelong and Colac have already accessed the program and feedback is overwhelmingly positive." Mr David Koch MP Member for Western Victoria Region stated.

Social Inclusion - Inclusive growth what does it mean?When Kevin Rudd became Prime Minister he established the Social Inclusion Advisory Board in 2009. This was in line with European and British social policy thinking, which since the 1970s, have been using this terminology and putting it into practice. Social Inclusion in practice is often done through employment. For some obtaining employment is more difficult than for others. It is important in an inclusive community that everyone has the right to housing, food, a safe environment and employment opportunities. Further to this is the notion of inclusive growth.
