Is St Laurence a charity?
Yes St Laurence is a Public Benevolent Institution – a registered Charity that operates on a not-for-profit, community-based model. As a charitable organisation we direct all surplus monies back into local communities - maximising the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities.
Since our beginnings in residential aged care we have also extended what we do into a range of services for people who are ageing, people with a disability, carers, retirees, job seekers and trainees. We help people help themselves, to retain their independence and quality of life in the communities in which they live. We develop new programs and facilities to meet the changing needs of our communities.
We rely on the support of the government, businesses and community groups and individuals for ongoing support so we can continue to assist individuals and communities.

Is St Laurence only based in Geelong?
No, St Laurence started over 50 years ago in Lara (near Geelong) but we now operate through offices located in rural and regional communities across south-western Victoria. See our locations

St Laurence has established a new Social Inclusion Unit to help ensure our services reach those who are most in need.
Social Inclusion is the framework we use to harness innovative services designed:
- to minimise loss of capability in citizens due to ageing;
- to support those with a disability who too often are left alone on the periphery to become active members in their local community; and,
- to increase the capacity of those who experience disadvantage to fully participate in the life of their community.
